Baxter Street Flats is a 30-unit development planned in the historic Cherry neighborhood of Charlotte, NC.
Laurel Street was invited to the Cherry community by the community association to help address gentrification concerns. As might be expected land availability was scarce and expensive. As such, Laurel Street proposed an innovative deal with the City of Charlotte to use surplus land for affordable development.
The development site is located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, parks and Charlotte’s downtown. Baxter Street offers one, two and three bedroom units for families earning 30%, 40% and 60% area median income.
Amenities include on-site management, fitness center, multi-purpose room, playground and a covered picnic area. Unit features include fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryer connections, balconies, open floor plans, closets and storage. Baxter Street Flats is built to Energy Star v2 standards.
