Laurel Street was the developer for Claremont Courts, the rehabilitation of an existing 250-unit public housing community in partnership with the Greensboro Housing Authority. The rehabilitation efforts included significant interior renovations, selected exterior repairs, and site improvements. Interior renovations included painting and refinishing walls, new flooring, dryer connections, and mechanical and life safety systems updates. The development was an in-place rehabilitation utilizing the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, a HUD Program that converts public housing units into Housing Choice units.
The units include one and two-bedroom garden apartments and three, four, and five-bedroom townhouses across 29 buildings. Site amenities include a community building, two playgrounds, multiple outdoor play areas, and an upgraded Born Learning Trail, which provides educational and physical health benefits to children through interactive games and equipment. Unit features include open floor plans with fully equipped kitchens, spacious closets, washer and dryer connections, and patios or balconies.
