Laurel Street is the developer of Loftin at Montcross senior apartments located in Belmont, NC. The project is being developed in two phases in partnership with the Southern Benedictine Society, Inc., the monastery at Belmont Abbey. The community is being developed on monastery land, and the monastery has future ownership option or right to each phase.
The first phase of construction, completed in early 2014, consists of 72 one- and two-bedroom mixed income, tax credit apartments housed in a three-story, elevator served building. Building features include a multi-purpose room, exercise room, computer center, sitting areas, laundry facilities, management offices, and tenant storage areas. Unit features include a fully equipped kitchen, on-site storage, ceiling fans, and patios/balconies. Outdoor amenities include raised bed garden plots, a patio, and outdoor sitting areas.
The community offers convenient access to the neighboring Abbey Plaza Shopping Center along with nearby Wal-Mart and Lowe’s Home Improvement.
Phase two, currently under development, consists of a 100 one- and two-bedroom apartments, targeting moderate income seniors. Construction is anticipated to be complete in 2018.
